Consciousness Mechanics (CM)

Consciousness Mechanics (CM) is a biology-first research framework that models consciousness as a continuous control architecture through which organisms perceive change, evaluate its significance for viability, interact with their environment, and regulate their ongoing condition.

The framework includes CCM as the comparative capability hierarchy and AoE as the experiential branch within that broader control architecture.

Core Definition Of Consciousness

Consciousness is the mechanism by which an organism regulates viability through perception and interaction with its environment.

CM begins from a direct biological claim. Consciousness is not a late add-on, a mysterious extra property, or a human-only phenomenon. It is the organism-level control architecture through which living systems perceive, evaluate, and act in ways that sustain ongoing viability.

On this view, consciousness is not layered on top of life after sufficient complexity appears. It is part of the control logic through which an organism maintains itself in the face of change.

Overview

Consciousness Mechanics (CM) is the root framing of the site and of the wider framework. It provides the core definition and control logic for consciousness as organism-level viability regulation.

From that root, the framework separates two distinct explanatory branches: the comparative architecture of control and the structure of experience. This site exists to clarify how those branches relate without collapsing them into one vague account.

The CCM model

Provides the formal comparative architecture of control within CM. It covers cumulative components together with the H and K scales used to keep temporal and structural claims explicit.

Architecture of Experience

The experiential branch within CM, explaining how experience is structured within the broader control architecture, rather than replacing or redefining the wider framework.

The purpose of this structure is clarity. Architecture, experience, and behaviour can then be treated as related parts of one framework without being confused for the same thing.
